I-Behavior And Friends To Sweat For Habitat For Humanity
Friday, April 22, 2005
On May 22 at this year’s Annual Catalog Conference in Orlando, Florida, I-Behavior, a provider of database services for direct marketers will forgo the usual elegant cocktail party for its clients in favor of something a bit grittier.
I-Behavior is inviting its customers and friends to participate in a “Blitz Build” being staged by Habitat for Humanity of Osceola County. A Blitz Build is just what it sounds like; hundreds of volunteers, some handy and some not, will work to build the frame for a single-family home in just one day.
“We’re inviting our clients to have a different kind of good time at this year’s conference – by doing something we can feel good about” said I-Behavior CEO Lynn Wunderman. The firm will provide busses from the convention center to the worksite along with meals, tools and hardhats for those who participate. “We just felt that there are things the world needs more right now than another cocktail party. Our management team decided this would be a different and interesting way to experience the area where the Conference is held,” Wunderman said. I-Behavior employees and clients will work alongside volunteers from the community.
Habitat for Humanity of Osceola County is working to eliminate poverty housing. HFHOC builds and sells homes at no profit to families who would not qualify for conventional financing. New homeowners are required to contribute 350-500 hours of “sweat equity” toward the construction of their own and others’ homes. Habitat for Humanity International operates in 81 countries and has built more than 110,000 houses in over 2,000 communities thus far. (www.habitatosceola.com/index.html)
